Above the city of Semarang, there is a small village called Branjang Village, located in West Ungaran District, Semarang Regency, Central Java. It is a tourist village that houses various community businesses such as local food processing, decorative crafts, and creative businesses.
Antoaquarium & Art is one of the creative businesses specializing in aquascaping, where this craft combines artistic elements with marine themes using resin techniques to create miniature underwater scenes. This business was inherited from Bagas’ father, who started Antoaquarium & Art based on his late father’s idea when he saw an empty aquarium, sparking a question that would change their lives: “Why not fill this empty aquarium?”
To this day, Antoaquarium & Art continues to operate, entering its 15th year, with the potential to grow into a creative SME recognized in the field of aquascape craftsmanship.
Despite being in operation for 15 years, Antoaquarium & Art faces limitations in promotion and digitalization, making it difficult to expand further and reach a broader market. To overcome these limitations, the KKN-107 team came to assist Bagas’ business by providing guidance and education through the optimization of digital promotion and the use of social media.
As part of the effort to help optimize digital promotion, the Social Community Group 8 conducted a program titled “Strengthening the Antoaquarium & Art SME through Leaflets on Business Literacy and Consumer Protection.” This program was based on the problems encountered by Bagas’ business, namely the lack of adequate promotion for Antoaquarium & Art products and the lack of knowledge among the community and MSME business owners regarding consumer and business operator legal protection.
Through this program, the Social Community Group 8 created a leaflet containing promotions, including recommendations for fish types suitable for aquariums, a list of best-selling products, and recommended products from Antoaquarium & Art. Additionally, the leaflet created by Social Community Group 8 also provides educational information on consumer and business protection based on Indonesian law.
This program is expected to help improve the promotion and value of Antoaquarium & Art products through product narratives and descriptions using attractive and informative language. It can also help the community and MSME business actors in increasing their awareness of consumer rights and the obligations that business actors must fulfill.
This KKN activity received full support from Dr. Sukarjo Waluyo, M.Hum., as the Head of the Indonesian Literature Study Program, FIB Undip. He also hopes that this activity will spark many other contributions from students in other Indonesian Literature Study Programs.
