EXPERTISE/RESEARCH INTERESTS OF LECTURERS
Marta Widyawati S.Hum., M.Hum. is a lecturer in Indonesian literature who focuses on gender and feminism studies in Literature. Her research highlights issues relating to women’s rights in both rural and urban contexts as depicted in literary works from various regions of Indonesia. For her, the struggle for gender equality can only be fully achieved if accompanied by a comprehensive understanding of the spatial and locational aspects surrounding the individual. Several of her studies have examined the objectification of women in Bali, South Sumatra, and West Nusa Tenggara. Her findings demonstrate that many local traditions are no longer relevant to the struggle for gender equality. She also explores women’s empowerment strategies, including among communities in Teluk Awur, Jepara, Central Java.
