Teacher Relaxation Module: Safina Ziyya’s Initiative from Undip’s Community Service Program to Improve Student Well-Being at Ngrandu Elementary School

Boyolali, (August 19, 2024)—A relaxation module is a guidebook or teaching material designed to help individuals, in this case students, manage stress and improve mental well-being. This module typically includes relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or light physical exercise that can be done during the learning process. The goal is to assist teachers in providing opportunities for students at Ngrandu Elementary School, Simo District, Boyolali Regency, to take a break from learning activities and restore their concentration and energy.

In an effort to add joy and reduce tension during learning sessions, Safina Ziyya Ulfiana, a student majoring in Indonesian Literature from Undip’s Community Service Program, held the program “Imaginary Adventure: Animated Short Stories for Relaxation with Ngrandu Elementary School Students.” This activity involves screening animated short stories specifically designed to help children relax and spark their imaginations.

The Imagination Adventure Program is expected to provide several benefits, including:

Improved Educator Skills
Technological Skills: Educators gain new skills in using animation software, expanding their technological capabilities.
Creativity in Teaching: Training in creating animated short story modules helps educators develop more creative and engaging teaching methods.
Improved Learning Quality:
Relaxation Method: The animated modules serve as a relaxation tool that helps students reduce stress and improve their concentration after a learning session.
Imagination Stimulation: The animated short story modules stimulate students’ imaginations and help them develop creativity.
Support for Holistic Learning:
Emotional Education: This activity supports students’ emotional well-being by providing time for positive relaxation.
Multisensory Learning: The integration of visuals and stories in animation supports multisensory learning, enriching students’ learning experiences.
Evaluation and Feedback: Educators can measure the effectiveness of the modules through student feedback, allowing them to make adjustments to improve the quality of teaching.

One of the teachers at Ngrandu Elementary School, Mrs. Ratnawati, welcomed the program. “We strongly support programs that actively involve children in creativity. This elementary school will always be open to Undip Community Service Programs (KKN). Hopefully, the activities implemented at Ngrandu Elementary School can be further developed and continued by us as teachers at Ngrandu Elementary School.”

Safina Ziyya, a member of the Undip Community Service Program team, hopes this program will empower elementary school educators with new skills to create and use animated short story modules. This activity not only enriches teaching methods but also provides tangible benefits in enhancing students’ creativity, experience, and well-being during learning. (Safina)
